Pet groomer Shen Xingyao finds a beautiful ragdoll cat that “runs into her,” then contacts its owner, Pei Yan. His voice is gentle, and he’s a veterinarian at the pet hospital next door. Shen Xingyao thinks he’s such a wonderful person!
But after the cat is returned, Pei Yan becomes a permanent fixture at her shop:
“Pengci isn’t feeling well. Could you take a look?”
“The golden retriever specifically asked for you to give him a bath!”
“The water heater’s broken. Can I borrow your bathroom to bathe Pengci?”
Shen Xingyao is thoroughly bewildered, until she catches Pei Yan whispering to the cat, “Be good. Help your dad trick Auntie Shen into coming over again, and all the new cans are yours!”
Shen Xingyao: !!! The gentle veterinarian is actually a scheming wolf!
And that’s not even the best part. When Pei Yan gets fed up with his parents nagging him to get married, he drags her in to “save the day.” “Mom, Dad, this is my girlfriend, Shen Xingyao.”
Shen Xingyao: ??? Since when were we together?
Pei Yan (whispering): “Contract girlfriend. Daily pay, meals and lodging included, plus unlimited cat cuddles. Interested?”
The sweet, slightly airheaded groomer falls into the scheming vet’s “sweet trap.” The more they pretend, the more her heart races. And Dr. Pei, who’s been carefully setting his plan in motion, can no longer hide the love in his eyes. All he wants is to keep her “tied to him” for the rest of their lives.
