Favored Consort

The third year since I went mad.

Xibao said there was another newcomer in Chengqian Palace,

whose features looked just like mine.

I heard she was different from the rest, with all sorts of fanciful ideas popping into her head.

That was why His Majesty treasured her like a precious jewel, afraid she'd melt if he held her in his mouth, afraid she'd fall if he held her in his hands.

He gave her the most magnificent palace in the world,

and granted the men of her mother's clan the most prestigious official posts.

He even gave her a one-of-a-kind pardon from execution. And because she said she disliked sharing a husband with anyone else, he had every one of his consorts in the imperial harem put to death.
