The day Zhu Le met Cheng Sen was probably a weekend. Zhu Le couldn’t quite remember, only that it was nothing like a scene from a romantic drama, with bright sunshine and all. It poured that day, and the place where love at first sight struck was hardly romantic either: a hospital.
After Zhu Le’s confession was rejected, they met again. Cheng Sen was chatting and laughing with a woman in a café. Zhu Le was just about to leave when Cheng Sen caught them in the act. “The woman you just saw is someone my mom found for me as a blind date.”
“So what? Are you here to cut all ties with me today?…” As Zhu Le stared in shock, Cheng Sen kissed the corner of their mouth and smiled. “I was going to make things clear anyway. I don’t like her. The first thirty years of my life are already behind me. If I could choose, I’d divide my life into two parts: the first thirty years, when you weren’t in it, and all the time left, which I hope to spend living it with you.”
Time without you was just time. With you, it becomes a life.
“Lele, if you don’t mind that I’m older, would you go out with me?”
