This is a story about people born in the 1980s, spanning twenty years of youth and the entanglement of reality. The story begins on the campus of Yangcheng No. 1 Middle School. Ji Mingjie, Zhong Xueyi, Wen Haoyu, Chi Rui and others spent pure but regretful high school years. Secret loves, failed confessions, and missed relationships form the background of their youth.
The gears of fate clicked again in college. Ji Mingjie and Wen Haoyu reunited in a foreign land. Their feelings that had been suppressed for many years should have started a prairie fire, but were forced to extinguish because of Ji's mother's strong obstruction. For many years after that, the two seemed to be trapped in a curse of "eternal mismatch": she was single and he had a girlfriend, but he was single and she was married.
After entering society, the former teenagers and girls fell into the cruel adult world. They thought they could make up for their youthful regrets, but reality gave them a heavy blow: Although Ji Mingjie was married to the seemingly stable doctor Li Zhong, and Wen Haoyu had a girlfriend, they cheated on each other after Ji Mingjie learned the truth due to their respective dissatisfaction; Zhong Xueyi had a dazzling pilot dream, but was teased by her mother-in-law in a rich marriage and suffered betrayal by her husband; and Jiang Lan, who had been silently guarding Ji Mingjie, was jealous of Ji Mingjie's success, secretly framed her, and her former best friend turned against her.
This is an urban emotional record about miss and redemption. When the blue sky of youth is obscured by the dust of reality, how can they find their once brave selves in the midst of broken marriages, embarrassing workplaces and entangled old relationships? In the intertwining of memories and reality, the story asks every soul struggling in the torrent of the times: What have we missed throughout our lives, and what do we really have?
