This sweeping story combines transmigration, history, comedy, an underdog’s rise, and empire-building. It begins with an absurd and perilous twist: Ye Feng, a top student in the 21st century with degrees in history and electromechanical engineering, has an accident and finds his soul transmigrated two thousand years into the past, into the body of Fusu, the Qin Empire’s eldest prince, who is being forced to kill himself by a forged imperial edict. Faced with the carefully plotted “scripted death” orchestrated by powerful ministers Zhao Gao and Li Si, Ye Feng has one immediate goal: survive!
Armed with knowledge far beyond his time, a sharp mind, and a touch of modern cunning, Ye Feng, now Fusu, manages to persuade the loyal and courageous general Meng Tian, who commands a powerful army and is in danger himself, to help him escape death. Knowing how history is supposed to unfold, he refuses to let the Qin Empire perish after just two reigns, and he won’t let this rare chance to be reborn go to waste. He uses simple scientific principles to improve weapons and sanitation in the army camps, winning people over, while matching wits with the envoys and assassins sent by the conspirators. Fusu (Ye Feng) quickly secures his position in the depths of danger and, under the banner of “purging the emperor’s inner circle,” leads Meng Tian and part of the army west toward Xianyang, the heart of the empire. The struggle for the throne is fraught with danger, but with his foreknowledge of history and his flexible use of modern tactics, including psychological warfare, information disruption, and even simple engineering, Fusu (Ye Feng) ultimately defeats the usurping forces of Zhao Gao and Hu Hai in the Battle of Xianyang, ascends the throne, and changes history. As Emperor Feng, he knows how difficult it is to preserve an empire, and dreams of raising this ancient realm to heights it has never reached before.
