In the quantum-cloud-sea universe of the Nine Heavens, low-level maintenance worker Chen Xuan accidentally activates the forbidden device known as the Chaos Furnace Core. His left hand mutates into an entropy-powered weapon, and he awakens the ability to perceive the universe's underlying logic: the Primordial Will. To survive and uncover the mystery of his origins, he is forced into the interstellar war between three civilizations:

Chen Xuan forms the Zeroers squad, including the cool-headed bioengineer Lin Wei, Lei Gang, a hard-drinking former marshal of the Celestial Court, and the malfunctioning AI Daodao. Together, they fight their way from the border star regions to Jun Tian, the heart of the Celestial Court. Along the way, they uncover the truth about the lost Stardust Era civilization, which destroyed itself while trying to compile the Primordial Will. In the final battle, Chen Xuan discovers that he is an “anti-entropic singularity” generated by the Primordial Will. By injecting emotional data, he cripples the Celestial Court's absolute order, but triggers a universe-wide crisis known as the Great Formatting. Faced with the threat of all things being reduced to zero, he leads the surviving civilizations toward an unknown future.
