As the rebirth of Journey to the West is about to begin, Pheasant Xiaoqi becomes a spiritual chicken numbered "Qi" waiting to be slaughtered in the kitchen backyard of the Demon King of Black Wind Mountain. His dream was humble yet lofty: to live until old age and die, and preferably to become a lowly little demon. He originally wanted to be stable and live forever, until he found that the grass seeds he pecked were mixed with a broken jade scrap engraved with ancient demon inscriptions... An inconspicuous little rooster began his journey of cultivating immortality (gou life) as a "chicken" as wise as a demon.
