The story begins in the third year of Tongguang in the Later Tang Dynasty (925). As the son of the commander of the Forbidden Army, Li Chengye began to flee after his father was falsely accused of colluding with the remaining parties of the Liang Kingdom. On the way, he met Zhao Qingyao, who was carrying the royal secret medicine, and the two experienced disasters such as the Yellow River bursting its banks and fighting in the feudal town. Li Chengye gradually emerged under the command of the Hedong warlord, but he fell into a profound contradiction between loyalty to the emperor and patriotism and real survival. When Shi Jingtang colluded with the Khitan to establish the Later Jin Dynasty, facing the crisis of broken mountains and rivers, Li Chengye had to make the ultimate decision related to his personal destiny and the world.
