Previously: Chen Zhen took Huo Yuanjia's son Dongjue with him as they fled Shanghai for Beiping. He went to work as a laborer for the Fang family and concealed his identity under the assumed name Chen Zhi'en. However, when he stood up to the Japanese to protect the Fang family and defeated them, his identity was exposed. He had no choice but to admit that he was Chen Zhen, the wanted fugitive the Japanese army had hunted years ago. Later, Sato of the Hongkou Dojo committed one atrocity after another, killing every disciple of the Jingwu School in Shanghai, including members of the Huo family. Yuanying escaped death and went to Beiping to find Chen Zhen, who was consumed with grief and fury when he heard the news. In the end, Yuanying, Chen Zhen, Lu Da'an, Liu Zhensheng, and several disciples of the Fang family stormed the Hongkou Dojo to wipe it out. They perished fighting the Japanese, and Chen Zhen and Sato killed each other in their final battle.
Continuation: This story follows Dongjue, Yuanjia's son, who was sent by Uncle Bing to live with the Huangfu family for seventeen years. Now grown up and having learned some kung fu, Dongjue returns to Beiping with Second Master Huangfu. When the two arrive in Beiping and find Fang Zhixin, they learn that Chen Zhen and his fellow disciples have all died in battle. The news leaves them heartbroken!
Later, Dongjue sets out to join the resistance against Japan. Along the way, he encounters Zheng Tianhua, who has been shot. Wounded, Zheng loses consciousness on the road. Dongjue happens upon him and carries him home.
When Zheng Tianhua wakes up, Dongjue learns that he is a Communist Party member and a soldier in the Communist army fighting the Japanese. Discovering that he is a Communist, Dongjue is thrilled! He insists on joining the resistance forces, and Zheng Tianhua, seeing how much the young man loves China, agrees.
Finally, when Yamamoto Taro of Japan captures many civilians and demands that they reveal where the Chinese boy is hiding, he threatens to kill everyone in Beiping if they refuse to talk. The news reaches Dongjue, filling him with hatred. Determined to eliminate Yamamoto, he storms the martial arts school alone.
