On freshman registration day, Lin Xiaobei, a senior in the computer science department, falls in love at first sight with Su Qing, a junior in the Chinese department. He tries to stop her with a homemade "facial recognition registration System," but a malfunction makes him embarrass himself in front of everyone.
Lin Xiaobei launches a series of outlandish courtship attempts, including using a drone to hang a banner declaring his love outside the women's dorm and writing a "weather forecast program just for Su Qing." Su Qing is both mortified and amused.
Student council president Li Jiahao pursues Su Qing in a mature and composed manner, creating a stark contrast that makes her seriously consider what kind of person she truly likes.
When Su Qing is overwhelmed with work for the campus drama festival, Lin Xiaobei quietly writes a program to help her manage ticketing and scheduling, but doesn't take credit. It reveals a thoughtful and considerate side quite different from his outward persona.
On a rainy night after the festival performance, Lin Xiaobei abandons his carefully prepared high-tech confession plan and speaks honestly about his feelings. The two finally get together.
