“Build me a path to Mount Buzhou and pull me out of the seal.”
As the unfamiliar voice crashed into his mind, he was holding half a flatbread he hadn’t finished eating.
“Who are you? You sure give orders like you own the place.”
“Wang Jiu.”
His chewing abruptly stopped. His Adam’s apple bobbed.
“Then who the hell am I?”
“You’re a murderous god who can’t resist meddling in other people’s business,” the voice chuckled, with an eerie familiarity. “You’re me, too.”
The moment he was told he was a god, the nemesis beside Wang Jiu nearly dropped dead on the spot.
As a divine attendant, he had schemed with foreign gods to seize the throne. He thought Wang Jiu had long since returned to chaos, never imagining he’d come back after changing into the ordinary person he had always targeted. The man’s legs went weak with terror.
Wang Jiu, however, paid him no mind. His gaze was filled with ferocity. Those hypocritical fellow gods enjoyed everything while sneering at it.
Humans, ants?
He heard himself say to himself:
“Gods can’t die? Then I’ll change the laws of Heaven to follow my rules.”
As for threats,
he didn’t care.
After all, he and those gods had been at odds for tens of thousands of years. The age of the gods was due for a change of blood.
