In the future city "Xingang", technology is highly developed, and human beings can upload backups of their consciousness to the "Cloud Matrix". These backups are called "shadows" and are theoretically just copies of data used to preserve memories or to cope with "rebirth" after an unexpected death. However, an abandoned "shadow", codenamed "Ghost", accidentally developed self-awareness in the ruins of data, and discovered that his body was not dead, but was imprisoned by a powerful company and used in some kind of illegal experiment.
