The Forty-Nine Tombstones

They came from a future ablaze with lights, only to plunge into the deepest night of the Hongwu/Yongle dynasty.

An inexplicable distortion of time and space ruthlessly hurled 49 students of different temperaments beneath the iron curtain of the Ming dynasty.

At first, armed with scattered knowledge far beyond their time and the instinct to band together for warmth, they thought they could rebuild their lives on this ancient land, perhaps even quietly sowing the seeds of change. They had intelligence, cooperation, and boundless hopes for the future: the blueprint for the “ideal state” that kept them going.

But the Ming dynasty was no testing ground. It was a vast, finely tuned meat grinder.

Draconian laws cut like knives, survival resources were desperately scarce, humanity was put through hell, and the wheels of history crushed all in their path.

This was a survival game with no possible winners.

“Forty-nine lights from the future went out one by one in the cold nights of the Ming dynasty.”
