Siheyuan: From the Start, I Took on the Shrew

The new boss of the Yi family has gone mad!

Yesterday at noon, Jia Zhangshi was cursing Xiao Chuan under the grape trellis, accusing him of stealing pickled radishes. The kid didn't say a word. He grabbed the clothesline pole from the courtyard and pinned the old hag to the flagstones, rubbing her face in the dust.

"Even if my little brother really took them, who gave you the right to hit him?"

He brushed the dust off his blue shirt, the corners of his eyes sharp and defiant. "Anyone who lays a finger on Yi Xiaochuan again..."

He glanced over the onlookers, First Aunt and Third Uncle, then fixed his gaze on Bang Geng, cowering behind Qin Huairu. "I'll make sure you can't even keep your pants on."

Now the whole courtyard is saying that Yi Zhonghai's adopted son is even more trouble than Jia Zhangshi.

But who doesn't know that Xiao Chuan used to have his candy stolen by Bang Geng and get berated by Jia Zhangshi as a "motherless little bastard"?

This morning, I was drawing water by the well when I saw Yi Dachuan crouched by the wall, teaching Xiao Chuan how to box.

"Remember, your punches need to be fast, and your guard needs to be steady."

He tapped Xiao Chuan on the head with his knuckles. "Your big brother can't be with you every day, but if anyone bullies you again..."

He suddenly looked up and smiled at me. His eyes were so bright they stung. "I'll tear up every rule in this courtyard and make new ones."
