Ox by Day, King of Hell by Night

(Lighthearted comedy + entertainment industry + timid assistant + scheming movie star + ghosts and the supernatural)

On Fan Baobao's twentieth birthday, just after midnight, a food delivery arrived for her.

And just like that, the timid Baobao somehow became the newly appointed King of Hell.

Now she's either on the verge of fainting or being chased by ghosts. To make matters worse, the Black and White Impermanence are always sending her to subdue evil spirits, supposedly to help her build up her courage.

Even worse than the Black and White Impermanence is her scheming boss. He tricked her into signing away her freedom, making her his assistant, and then insisted on dragging her along to some ridiculous show.

You're a movie star. Why are you taking part in a supernatural challenge? Fine, go ahead and do it, but why do you have to drag me along?

Fan Baobao stared at the evil spirit in the distance, unable to tell what it was made of. She prayed it couldn't see her and, better yet, would grab her boss instead.

But things didn't go as she'd hoped. The evil spirit was actually afraid of the man, so it turned its attention to her.

Fan Baobao could only run while crying and hurling pots, pans, and bowls at the evil spirit.

The stunned spirit roared, “Enough! How dare you humiliate me?”

Fan Baobao threw a durian at it. The evil spirit vanished in a puff of disbelief.

Everyone was dumbfounded. “Durian really is a weapon!”
