In the near future, a “brain-computer plague” breaks out. When people upload their consciousness to the quantum cloud, they contract a virus. Their physical bodies mutate into “corroded husks,” half-machine zombies, while their consciousness in the cloud splits into “data ghosts” that wander the networks of the ruins.
