(A heads-up: This story goes into detail about real-time strategy games. I've tried to make it understandable even for readers who have never played one. It's not a StarCraft spin-off: it takes some inspiration from the genre, but is mostly original. There is a System, but the male lead doesn't have it, and there is only one female lead.)
Universe at War is a virtual reality real-time strategy game from outer space.
The human race was once a force feared by every other species in the game. With their diverse, complex armies, flexible and adaptable tactics, and ingenious habit of covering their main bases with bunkers, they made life miserable for everyone.
S-Rank Draconid: 666, they're not even pretending anymore. Our main base has only just started upgrading to level two, and the humans are already rushing us.
S-Rank Zerg: Hissssss... gurgle gurgle... hiss ha hiss ha (I charged the human main base with a max-level army from my fourth base... and their main base's mother-and-child bunkers and fortresses tore through my forces like they were made of paper.)
S-Rank Spiritfolk: Who the **** said human attacks are physical damage and don't affect incorporeal units? Are you **** blind to the nanobullets?
C-Rank Human: (shrugs) “The environment changes living things, and technology changes the environment.”
At the height of humanity's power, 12 of the 100 Universe Marshals were human. Then came the Great Collapse. Of all the marshals sent to defend the front lines of the universe, only one human survived. The sole human survivor lay in bed, shook his head, and then drew his last breath.
Eighteen years later, humanity has already lost two consecutive rounds of the Death Rotation Tournament. If they lose again, the will of the universe will erase humanity, and Blue Star will forever become part of Universe at War...
