When heaven and earth first parted, pure energy became the heavens and turbid energy became the earth. Pangu's essence transformed into the Twelve Ancestral Witches, who commanded the laws of nature. Nuwa molded humans from clay, while Fuxi devised the Eight Trigrams and established human order. Thus the realms of humans, gods, and demons were born. But the Heavenly Way was incomplete, and the divine sages had to undergo tribulations to mend its laws. Mount Buzhou was the pillar supporting heaven and earth, connecting the realms of humans and gods. It concealed Pangu's legacy, the Creation Spirit Essence, the key to maintaining balance among the three realms.
Core Characters
- Heroine, Qing Yao: A divine attendant who took human form from a spirit snake beneath Nuwa. Tasked with mending the rifts in the Heavenly Way, she unexpectedly awakens memories of a past life while undergoing tribulation in the mortal realm. She was once a primordial spirit being who absorbed the Creation Spirit Essence beside Mount Buzhou. After witnessing Mount Buzhou collapse and heaven and earth crumble when the Ancestral Witches Gonggong and Zhuanxu fought for the throne, Nuwa sealed her memories with divine power. She was then reincarnated as a half-demon, half-human hybrid.
- Hero, Zhu Yin: The son of Zhulong, one of the Twelve Ancestral Witches, and master of the changing of day and night. After his father fell in the battle at Mount Buzhou, his people branded him a harbinger of disaster and exiled him to the mortal realm. Though cold and distant on the surface, he is driven by an obsession with restoring the Ancestral Witches' glory. But through his entanglement with Qing Yao, he gradually realizes that violence cannot restore balance to the Heavenly Way.
- Antagonist, Xuan Hao: A descendant of Zhuanxu. After his ancestor lost the struggle between humans and gods, he secretly fused with demonic forces in an attempt to resurrect Gonggong's lingering spirit. He plans to overturn the order of the three realms with the Creation Spirit Essence, convinced that the law of the jungle is the true Heavenly Way.
