Will watched executive hovercars streak past the glass curtain wall and suddenly remembered the footage of Johnny Silverhand bombing Arasaka Tower.
That rebellious ghost, whose face kept looping on the holo-news, had become a legend of Night City.
“What are you thinking about?” Lucas patted his shoulder. “Don’t tell me Arasaka’s ‘corporate culture’ has moved you.”
“I was wondering,” Will said under his breath, his new cyber-eye sweeping over the tiny camera in the ceiling,
“when Johnny Silverhand blew up the tower, was there someone just like us, wearing a stolen uniform and drinking synth-coffee in the employee lounge?”
Lucas froze for a moment, then burst out laughing.
“Shit! You’re thinking about that guy? And V and Jackie Welles, too? Look at us. Former VCIU agents, now trying to steal the title of ‘Night City’s bravest’ from legendary criminals?”
“Maybe we really can become legends.” Will stepped into the employee elevator bound for the third basement level. “As long as we don’t die like Jackie…”
