Chasing the Moon on the Canglang River

Baihu War God Lin Rulan stood amid a hundred thousand troops with Princess Xinyue. He had brought his army to the gates for one person, and that person was not her.

At that moment, the soldiers' cries shook the heavens: “Princess Jinhan! Princess Jinhan!” When the city gates swung open, Lin Rulan left Xinyue alone on the tiger's back, leapt onto his horse, and lifted Jinhan up behind him. Dark clouds loomed over the city, but Xinyue saw everything with startling clarity as Lin Rulan shot her a cold, wild glance. For an instant, she actually thought he was angry with her.

Yet for the next several nights, music and revelry filled the commander’s tent, while Xinyue wept alone in her freezing tent in a foreign land. When she awoke, Lin Rulan was staring at her with lake-dark eyes. He gripped her chin and rasped, “Why are you crying? You want me?” She shook her head frantically, but he went on, “Too late. You don’t get to decide!” As he spoke, he bit down on her lips like a ravenous tiger, while his other hand roamed over every inch of her skin within reach. She cried and shouted in pain, “You beast! Let me go!”

His voice trembled. “You’re the one who made me hurt like this! This still isn’t enough…”

Their world turned upside down. At last, he held her and shed a hot tear. “Xinyue, how can you be so cruel? You’re taking my life!”

The morning she had been longing for:

“General, this is bad! Princess Xinyue has escaped on the snow mountain tiger!”

“She stole my person, stole my heart, and even stole my mount! Yuan Xinyue, just you wait!”
