Shen Yan transmigrates into Love in the Courtyard. When he opens his eyes, he finds himself in the body of a sickly man with the same name, regarded by everyone in the courtyard as a burden.
He has a “Repair All Things” System that can restore objects to perfect condition, but doing so consumes his mental energy.
When the women in the courtyard mock him for living off others, he quietly repairs a broken pocket watch and sells it for money;
When Qin Huairu is fretting over her children's medical bills, he restores an ancestral jade bracelet to help her out;
When the turmoil of a special era sweeps through the courtyard, he repairs cultural relics to stop the Red Guards' hammers;
When Silly Zhu is falsely accused of stealing grain from the public stores, he restores the seal on the grain sack and clears his name.
Years later, when the courtyard is renovated, the neighbors discover that the sickly man they'd thought useless had quietly protected them for half their lives.
Qin Huairu chokes back tears: “Shen Yan, the courtyard owes you a little warmth.”
