Set at Chenghai Middle School, in a southern coastal city, this story follows four teenagers with very different personalities as they grow up in the science honors class from 2013 to 2016, through three years of high school and the summer after graduation. The story revolves around three main threads: the pressure of the college entrance exams, family secrets, and undercurrents within school clubs. Along the way, it explores the secret crushes, betrayals of friendship, and reconciliations unique to adolescence, while weaving in the marks of the era, such as the rise of social media and the impact of smartphones becoming commonplace on personal relationships.
