Synopsis: Think cultivating immortality means freedom and eternal life? No. It's a bloodbath, even more brutal than the mortal world! Lamei, a farm boy so poor he can't even afford shoes, leaves home at sixteen to make a living. He struggles through the mortal world and experiences both kindness and cruelty.
One stormy night, a kind act over half a steamed bun earns him the guidance of a mysterious old beggar, and he steps into the world of cultivation.
