Candles in the Eerie Night

No one knows why the gods and Buddhas fought across the heavens, or how their war ended. After the battle, they vanished. The night was taken over by eerie creatures that fed on human blood and lifespans. Humanity was powerless to stop them, and the survival of the race hung by a thread. At the moment of crisis, a great master created the “Life Lamp,” fueled by blood and shielded by the fortune of a family or a nation. People gathered in fortified settlements, and though each lamp alone was meager, together they were enough to let humanity cling to life through the night. Heroes do not fall from the sky. They are ordinary people who step forward when the moment calls for it. This book tells the story of a nobody swept along by the tides of his age, pushed onward one step at a time until he becomes that golden flame, carving out a new place for humanity to survive.
