Blockade Archives: Blood Plague Siege

As a follow-up reader of "The Blockade Files", writing my review before the story is finished is more like a real-time record - I not only pay attention to the current struggles of the characters, but also look forward to how the author unravels the layers of foreshadowing. The author uses solid narrative and vivid character creation to still maintain a delicate observation of human nature amidst the intense and exciting survival challenges. What particularly impressed me was the character design of the dancer Xiao Xi: in traditional doomsday narratives, this kind of "non-combat" silly and sweet character should often be the first to exit, but the author allows her to survive in the team and show "unique value". This anti-routine treatment not only subverts the labeling setting, but also makes people think-can "innocence" also become an undiscovered survival trait in extreme environments? However, as the crisis continues to escalate, can Xiao Xi's "purity" survive in the bloody reality? Can this "anti-routine" stick to the ending? Hmm... This must have become one of my motivations for updating. I've read Chapter 10. What impressed me most about this chapter was not the thrilling escape scenes, but the "harmless bravery" of Liu Yuxi's character that bloomed in desperate situations. When everyone was trapped in the collapsed tunnel, she was the first to climb the ruins to investigate. When she found the rescue vehicle but had no way to go, she instinctively picked up the orange cat that happened to appear. There was uncalculated sincerity hidden in these actions. Her cuteness lies in the contradictory reality. She can climb up dangerous ruins as nimbly as a cat, but when Yang Fan asks about the cat, she flatly complains, "It jumped up on its own." Her clumsy but focused look when bandaging the wound reveals the reliability of this seemingly cute girl. What's even better is her insensitivity to danger. When others are frightened by the low roar, the fried orange cat squatting on her shoulder becomes the mirror image of her innocence and fearlessness... This "ignorant and instinctive rushing forward" trait has become a temperature more precious than weapons in the context of doomsday. The author uses details to make her "alive": the detailed description of her fingertips clasping the cracks in the concrete when climbing makes the burst of power of her petite figure concrete, and her willfulness of holding the cat into the ventilation duct suddenly reveals her childish side. This "uncoordinated softness" that remains under the pressure of survival makes me, as a reader, unable to help but raise the corners of my mouth just like Yang Fan when I look at her focused profile. Haha, I finally said secretly: The stuck Zhao Jianguo and the little yellow croaker who kicked his butt are simply the best background for Xiao Xi's cute crit.

The plot is bold, full of creativity, and the characters are unique. It's great.
