At the dawn of the Xuanqiong Realm, there existed a primordial ferocious beast embodying the universe's ultimate “chaos” and “destruction”: the Heavenburning Annihilation Beast. Its very existence would reduce all things to nothingness, making it the antithesis of the “order of the Heavenly Dao.” In ancient times, the first generation of gods, or guardians of the Heavenly Dao, could not erase it completely. They could only pour all their strength into scattering it and laying down a seal of immense power that would endure through the ages.
The seal had three key components:
Form Lock: Most of the Heavenburning Annihilation Beast's body and power were sealed away in an isolated, lifeless realm known as the “Ashen Ruins.”
Soul Lock: Its most crucial remnants, a sliver of “immortal true soul” and a “primordial nether bone,” were cast into the cycle of reincarnation. The hope was that countless lifetimes would wear away its ferocity, but they never did.
Nature Lock: To resolve the problem once and for all, one generation of the “Guardians of the Heavenly Dao” (the ancestors of Mo Wen and Li Qingxuan) conceived a brilliant but dangerous plan. They took that sliver of true soul and used supreme divine powers to create a perfect “human” body for it. From the “marks of the world” of a distant, peaceful world without cultivation or slaughter, the Azure Planet, they extracted a mortal's memories and planted them deep in the body's sea of consciousness as an “anchor of humanity.”
Lin Jin is that body, and this “Lock of Humanity.”
