“Twelve points short: a crack in fate, and the starting point for a new youth.”
On the day the high school entrance exam results are announced, Chen Fei misses out on his dream school by just twelve points.
That cold number sends him to the “unfamiliar place” his father has arranged for him.
Here gather those temporarily branded “failures” by their scores:
Wen Tingshu, a taciturn art student who keeps coloring in the lost dreams in her sketchbook.
Mu Yao, a quirky student who failed the entrance exam and hides her uncertainty about the future behind her laughter.
Shen Dieren, an inscrutable transfer student who murmurs about old grievances that have yet to heal late into the night.
The gates of their strict boarding school close behind them. Over the next three years, their individual stories show them that:
“The twelve points each of us fell short by add up to a perfect score when we put them together.”
So being twelve points short isn’t the end of a regret. It’s the mark where the story begins.
It’s the grandest plot twist youth has planted for us!
I came across this accidentally. This is the beginning of a solid and delicate youth campus novel. It successfully depicts the pain, confusion and glimmer of growth. The character Chen Fei in the opening chapter is just like me after the high school entrance examination. Although his experience is not as rich as his, it can really give people an aftertaste. I am looking forward to the stories written by the author later.
