Before the major Honkai: Star Rail 4.0 update, college student Lin Yu is unexpectedly summoned to the world of Honkai: Star Rail by Akivili, the Aeon of Trailblaze. Bound to the Trailblaze Chronicles System, he becomes the Astral Express's first librarian. From then on, he travels through different points in time across the galaxy, witnessing or experiencing one legendary story after another, and recording them all:

Firefly: “I dreamed of a scorched wasteland... a new bud pushing up through the earth... blooming in the morning sun...”

Bai'e: “Are you ready, Nanook? I've brought you destruction!”

Jing Yuan: “Goodbye, Master. Let me repay your kindness in teaching me with this one move!”

Narrator: “So, do you still remember why Izumo forged the blade?” Acheron: “For the sake of a lie…”

The Express also welcomes one visitor after another:

Black Swan: “Let's make a trade, a trade involving ‘Memories.’”

Herta: “I heard you've met an Aeon. Tell me, how did you do it?”

Sparkle: “Praise Aha, this is so much fun.”

Argenti: “Are you here to seek out Beauty, too?”

From the Twilight Wars to Himeko acquiring the Astral Express and setting off, Lin Yu's lighthearted space adventure begins.
