Kang Yongsheng and his son were both only children. His son died young, leaving behind three grandsons: Kang Enqin, Kang Enhe, and Kang Enze. The twins, Kang Enhe and Kang Enze, were born when Kang Enqin was four.
Perhaps because their grandfather insisted time and again, Kang Enqin persevered with her studies, got into a nursing school, and graduated with excellent marks. She was assigned to the provincial sperm bank's testing and inspection center as a nurse.
At a party, a spoiled rich young man drugged and raped her, and she gave birth to a daughter.
During a sperm collection procedure, she recognized a pair of familiar eyes: they belonged to Pan Yongxu, the man who had raped her all those years ago.
Faced with harsh reality, she had no choice but to yield and draw her daughter's biological father into her life.
Her younger brother, Kang Enhe, was a troublemaker. Just before graduating middle school, he got a girl pregnant and was forced to leave home. He worked as a laborer on construction sites and experienced all kinds of dangers.
With no particular skills, Kang Enhe opened an upscale pet shop with his brother's help. There he met his girlfriend, Pan Yongying, who was childfree by choice and Pan Yongxu's half-sister.
With her older sister's help, she changed her mind and later gave birth to a boy.
The second younger brother, Kang Enze, got into a veterinary program at a provincial medical college outside the province. After graduation, he returned to work at the Jiang'an Town veterinary station. Following a series of events, he had no choice but to leave his hometown and make a living in the provincial capital.
Later, he worked as a veterinarian at an animal hospital and met Su Yaxi, a nurse who handled artificial insemination and animal deliveries.
Kang Enze was infertile, which caused the couple great distress. Eventually, they underwent IVF and finally had a daughter of their own.
After enduring countless hardships, the two brothers finally became fathers. Kang Yongsheng was overjoyed, but his excitement brought on a stroke that left him bedridden and paralyzed. He died not long afterward, at peace with the world.
The characters are typical, the plot is tortuous, the story is exciting, the writing is beautiful, and the pace is fast and moderate. 👍👍👍
This book is worth reading.
