The Metaphysical Girl Descends the Mountain and Shatters the Materialist Worldview

[Urban fantasy + metaphysics + ghost hunting + two heroines + goofy humor + lighthearted + sweet romance]

Gu Lingyou has spent eighteen years cultivating the Dao, and is a prodigy in the occult arts. While her master is away, a group of men in black storm the temple to steal an evil stone. Her fellow disciples are all driven back.

Lingyou steps forward. “I can tell from your faces that disaster is coming your way.”

She flings out talismans of every kind, catching the men in black completely off guard. Her cheap plastic bracelet suddenly blazes with golden light and unleashes terrifying power, leaving every one of them coughing blood and sprawled on the ground. But the evil stone is stolen, and her senior brother is injured. After Lingyou nags her master relentlessly, he finally agrees to let her descend the mountain.

Along the way, she casually destroys a vengeful spirit and picks up a Virgo spirit beast to be her “husky.”

New to the city, she is curious about everything and soon encounters a girl haunted by yin energy.

Girl: “A dark mark between my brows? Don’t try to fool me!”

Lingyou: “Look, there she is.”

The girl trembles. “N-no! I don’t want to look!”

By chance, Lingyou meets a young Daoist and wins him over with her occult abilities, too. As she explores city life, she also hunts ghosts, drives away evil, and sells talismans. When she tears apart a fake Daoist in the middle of the street, word of her talisman business spreads online.

Viewer: “Fairy sister!”

Lingyou: “I’m not a fairy. I just sell talismans!”

A TV reporter hurries after her with a camera. “How do you feel about suddenly becoming an internet celebrity?”

Lingyou: “An internet celebrity? Is that a new dessert?”
