On the night of the fall of Peking in 1937, Xu Jianfeng, an international student at Yanjing University, awakened to the "iron-blooded resistance system" amidst the artillery fire of the Japanese massacre. He gave up the opportunity to study in Japan and returned to his hometown in the Taihang Mountains to form an anti-Japanese armed force. Starting from eight broken guns, he teamed up with female military doctor Su Yuqing, underground party member Lin Moxue, military commander Chu Minglan and other patriots to forge a "Taihang Iron Army" in blood and fire that frightened the Japanese army.
This is an epic of scientific and technological resistance, a heroic hymn of majestic mountains and rivers, and an epic of growth that transcends the flames of war. When the smoke clears, the mountains and rivers are illuminated again. But those iron-blooded years will always be engraved in the deepest part of the national memory.
