Ten Shares of Humble Blood, a Homecoming to Boundless Love

The day I was thrown out by my wealthy family, a downpour swallowed the princess dress I'd worn for eighteen years. My birth parents' home was nothing but a leaky shack and ten brothers so hungry their eyes had turned green. As I gnawed on moldy steamed buns and taught them to read, no one could have imagined that... My eldest brother, who had dropped out of school to work, became a mining tycoon. He drew a circle beneath the slums and said, “This whole diamond mine is for building my little sister an amusement park.” My second brother, who used to sing on the street, reached the top of the Grammys. In his acceptance speech, he said, “Thanks to my little sister for making my first sheet music out of a rice sack.” And the man who used to rummage through trash to find me presents now sits atop the global rich list. Kneeling on one knee, he holds up an iron ring and asks, “Can I replace the candy wrapper I owed you with a real diamond?”
