"Water Margin" is set against the background of the social turmoil in the late Northern Song Dynasty. It tells the story of Song Jiang and other 108 Liangshan heroes who gathered in Liangshan due to the "government forced the people to rebel" and set up the banner of "doing justice for heaven". The whole book focuses on the theme of "loyalty", exposes the corruption of feudal rule, and creates portraits of heroes with distinctive personalities such as Lin Chong and Wu Song. It is one of the four classic Chinese classics and can be called a literary epic of ancient peasant uprisings.
