Synopsis
Earth is not humanity's home alone. To advanced civilizations, it is a "pasture" ready for harvest once every thousand years. The eerie whispers and bizarre phenomena quietly spreading through the cities are signs that the harvest is near.
Ling Xiao, an introverted high school student, is tormented by his extreme sensitivity to emotions. Then the arrival of Su Mu, a cool and aloof transfer student, drags him into a cruel truth: human emotions are crops, and alien reapers known as the "Observers" carry out periodic purges with elegant indifference. In this cycle of despair, countless civilizations have risen up in resistance, only to be wiped out.
But Ling Xiao and Su Mu, together with tech genius Li Ao and mysterious scholar Lin Wei, discover the enemy's only weakness: the most primal emotional power, long forgotten by the reapers. Betting everything, they devise a daring plan called the "Emotional Matrix," hoping to channel the hope, anger, and courage of humanity into a torrent capable of striking back at the stars.
Victory brings an invitation from the Interstellar Alliance and a leap forward for civilization, but peace does not last forever. A generation later, a new threat draws near from deep space. The young successors must shoulder the will and sacrifices of those who came before them, and fight for survival and the future in an even vaster sea of stars.
This is an interstellar epic about emotion as power, mortals defying gods, hope born from despair, and civilizations that continue to grow through the generations.
