From the Start of the Famine, I Led My Whole Family to Ascension

Wang Xiao, a soil scientist who died suddenly in his laboratory, opened his eyes to find himself reborn as a notorious lazybones in a year of famine. A dilapidated hut, a sickly mother, a timid wife, Li Wanniang, who had suffered for six years, and a frail daughter without even a proper name... His family owned nothing but a mountain of debt.

“Survive.”

That thought became his sole support. Using modern knowledge, he distilled clean water, made traps, and improved farming tools. Starting with a bowl of wild-vegetable porridge, he gradually filled his family's bellies and warmed their frozen hearts. He named his daughter Shuyao and taught her to read and do arithmetic; he stood by his wife, Wanniang, helping her rediscover the tenderness in her eyes; and above all, he had to cure his mother's illness and hold their crumbling family together.

The famine had yet to pass when he unexpectedly stumbled upon traces of cultivators. It turned out this world held not only starving corpses, but also cultivators who could fly through the skies and tunnel through the earth, and magical treasures capable of laying waste to the world. Wang Xiao knew that mere food and shelter would not be enough to protect his family.

So, from surviving in the countryside to commercial battles across the prefectures, from establishing a foothold in a sect to seeking the Dao across continents, he led his whole family forward one careful step at a time. His daughter Shuyao used the wisdom and ingenuity of water to shape the outcome; his son Jingchen used the sharpness of metal to overcome every obstacle; and his wife Wanniang used the resilience of wood to safeguard their foundation. As for him, in a mortal body, he fused modern wisdom with the laws of cultivation and forged a path to ascension, from the depths of famine to freedom across the myriad realms.

They started with a bowl of clean water, and ended as a family of cultivators. This is a story of redemption, protection, and a whole family growing together, as the hardiest of flowers bloom from the dust.
