Main character: Gu Bai
Gu Bai wins a hundred million yuan in the lottery. Never in a million years does she expect to die in a car accident while claiming her prize. A System suddenly drops from the sky, and she transmigrates onto a famine refugee trail.
Gu Bai: “Waaah~ My mansion, my handsome men, my hundred million! My dream of reaching the pinnacle of life is shattered!”
System: “Host, as long as you complete missions and earn enough merit, you'll have everything you want: a mansion, handsome men, a hundred million!”
Gu Bai: “Really? What's the mission?”
System: “See the man in the middle? He's your current mission target, Lu Jin'an. Save him and stop him from turning evil... to earn merit!”
Gu Bai, the weakling: “...”
With an item from the System in hand, the weak and helpless Gu Bai squeezes her eyes shut and charges in to save him.
Later...
Bandits attack, and the System gets excited: “Host, your merit is here! Go! I believe in you!”
Gu Bai, holding a red-tasseled spear, is excited too: “I'm awesome! I can do this!”
Who knew that after saving him, Gu Bai would do the math and realize, “I worked for nothing and even lost money! System, let's run away!”
Lu Jin'an's gaze turns cold as he tightens his grip on the note hidden in his sleeve. Gu Bai, since you've delivered yourself right to me, don't even think about running!
