The heroine hides her beauty out of insecurity at first, but later the hero spoils her until she develops a little temper.

Wen Zhimiao’s life was like a glass of plain water poured out over and over:

Her alcoholic father shattered her, her remarried mother abandoned her, and in the end she struggled on alone.

Until one day, she turned into a cat and was taken home by Xie Muchuan.

Droplets of water on the glass door glittered like diamonds in the midday sun. Cool air, laced with the sugary scent of popsicles, rushed out toward the scorching street.

When Wen Zhimiao took off her glasses, the frames left two faint red marks on the bridge of her nose, as if summer had secretly stamped her.

She lowered her head to wipe the lenses, stray locks falling to cover half her face. It was her usual defensive pose, as though her heavy black frames were a shield that could block every prying gaze.

The sensor above the door suddenly chimed. She hurriedly looked up

A boy dressed in black pushed the door open. The cool air and the girl’s flustered movements both caught Xie Muchuan’s eye.

Wen Zhimiao fumbled for her glasses, the tips of her ears beneath her hair as red as fragments of sunset.

Xie Muchuan stood by the shelves, strawberry milk pinched between his fingers. His gaze swept over her flushed ears, and his Adam’s apple bobbed.

Later, he came every single day to buy the same kind of milk. But when a drunk started harassing her, he stepped in front of her with a cold expression. “You can pay for the damaged goods, or I can call the police.”

Xie Muchuan, the famously aloof heartthrob of Yongcheng No. 1 High School, had three secrets:

1. He liked strawberry milk.

2. He loved little cakes.

3. He liked Wen Zhimiao.

Later, everyone noticed Xie Muchuan following the transfer student around and handing her milk.
