The Cursed Top Gaokao Scorer

On the day of the college entrance exam, all the students in the exam hall were asleep.

The teachers not only did nothing to stop them, they told everyone not to write down any answers.

That was because for the past ten years, every top scorer in the city had died mysteriously on the day they received their results.

The police conducted thorough investigations, only to find that every one of them had died by suicide.

Students throughout the city were terrified. Some transferred schools, others dropped out, and some even deliberately scored poorly on the exam, afraid they might become the top scorer.

I wasn’t worried, because I ranked near the bottom of the whole school. Getting into a vocational college would be hard enough, and I’d even turned in a blank exam.

But to my surprise, when the results came out, I had become the top scorer!
