Every morning, Lin Xuanyi wakes up having forgotten who he is.
His world seems just like Earth, yet everywhere lurk strange phenomena beyond comprehension. His only guide to survival is a warning left on his phone by “yesterday’s self”: beware the woman in red, avoid certain elevators, don’t answer knocks at the door... and look in the mirror every day to make sure you’re still yourself.
Then, one day, he sees the final warning: “You are becoming the thing we fear most.”
In the mirror, his reflection gives him a hideous, inhuman grin.
To uncover the truth and recover his lost self, Lin Xuanyi is forced to break the rules and venture into a perilous outside world. He meets other “Awake” survivors fighting to stay alive, discovers clues pointing to a key figure known as “Zero,” and finds a mysterious key that can unlock the “Observation Tower.”
Yet every step closer to the truth brings the risk of having his memories forcibly “formatted.” Through countless cycles and bouts of forgetting, he gradually reaches a horrifying revelation: the world he inhabits is called “Eden,” and it is in fact a vast virtual prison. The real world has long since become a wasteland, and humanity’s last embers are huddled in a desperate shelter known as the “Ark.”
Breaking the cycle means facing a reality even crueler than the virtual nightmare. Staying where he is means losing himself with every reset, until he becomes part of the System.
