A few warnings: slow burn! The author rambles, so the characters do too. The heroine is stubbornly resigned and frantically ambitious.
Those with rich inner lives are never truly alone.
This is more or less a first-person monologue, with lots of inner thoughts and not much plot progression, so it may feel rambling. If you prefer stories where the plot races ahead, you might want to wait a bit or give this one a pass.
I just hope it gives everyone a laugh. I can see that some readers are concerned, so I’ve put these warnings up front.
If you can’t handle it, please don’t tell me in the comments. I’m afraid I’ll go even more crazy (°ー°〃)

Is it really so easy to find a job in the Underworld these days?
Answer: “Your allotted years in the living world aren’t up yet. Easy? My ass!”
After Bai Guo died young, she saw quite a lot of the Underworld. As it turned out, she couldn’t even afford to live in the CBD of the City of the Wrongfully Dead. She hadn’t had her fill of life, but couldn’t afford a place to stay, either. Hoping for a better start in her next life, she decided to become a wage slave again, and enjoy a different kind of life while she was at it.
Maybe fate will smile on her. Perhaps she won’t have to drink Granny Meng’s Soup of Forgetfulness after all. Who knows if it even quenches your thirst?
It's okay, there's so much to read
It's okay, but it feels a little delicate. It's not a fast food fanfic.
