After an accident claimed Su Yao’s parents, she was adopted by the grandfather of the Huo family, old friends of her parents. Wherever Su Yao went, his grandson Huo Ting protected and doted on her, treating her as the apple of his eye. One day, when she overheard Grandpa Huo arranging a blind date for Huo Ting, Su Yao decided to study abroad for two years and lock away her unrequited love.
After Su Yao left, Huo Ting searched for her everywhere. He eventually learned from her best friend that she had gone to university in Germany, and immediately flew there to find her. Unfortunately, from a distance near the school, he saw Su Yao happily chatting with a male classmate who was holding a bouquet of flowers. He mistook the classmate for her boyfriend, quietly left, and returned home. Seeing her happy, he chose to wish her well in silence.
One day, while moving house, he found a box in a cupboard. When he opened it, he saw that it was full of love letters and holiday greetings Su Yao had written to him. At last, he understood why she had gone abroad to study: it had all been a misunderstanding, and they had both been deeply in love with each other.
Two years later, Su Yao returned home alone. Huo Ting could no longer contain his affection and expressed his love with all the determination he could muster. Su Yao opened her heart too, and they lived happily together.
