After the Emperor Brought a Woman Back from Jiangnan, I Let Him Go and Left

I was betrothed to the young emperor since childhood, destined to become the empress who would rule the realm.

But on the day I came of age, the emperor brought a woman back from Jiangnan. Everyone urged me not to take it to heart, reminding me that I would still be the empress, with my exalted rank.

But I had once seen with my own eyes the affection in the emperor’s gaze as he humbled himself to serve that woman.

Still, it didn’t matter. I was the future empress, the emperor’s wife. Naturally, I should be magnanimous enough to share him.

But I had demanded perfection in everything since I was a child. I had to be the first person in my husband’s heart, too.
