Whatever Happened to the Promised Early-Death White Moonlight?

Heroine: delicate, soft, and lazy at heart, with a tendency to cry at the slightest thing VS Hero: a delusional, self-persuading madman and an incurable overthinker

Gu Ruanruan opens her eyes and finds herself reborn as the short-lived sacrificial white moonlight from the original story. There, she was frail and sickly, gentle as water, and the cinnabar mark that the hero could never erase from his heart. In the end, she was poisoned to death at her coming-of-age ceremony.

Looking at the beauty in the bronze mirror, as delicate as a willow in the breeze, Gu Ruanruan clenches her little fists. To hell with being someone's white moonlight! This lazy fish just wants to live to a hundred and eat and drink well!

So...

The hero gives her a blood-jade hairpin? She turns around and hands it to the heroine. “It looks better on you, little sister.”

The hero waits for her in the rain? She pretends to faint from her “frail health,” then wraps herself in sable fur and tucks into a roast chicken.

The hero slaughters her enemies for her? She trembles and sobs. “My lord, you're so scary...”

Until one night, the rumored vicious, sinister regent corners her beside the hot spring pool. “Tired of pretending, Ruanruan? When you egged the Crown Prince on to steal my military tally... you weren't exactly quiet.”
