Qian Shan bears a blood-and-tears curse and seeks a cure with a soul-devouring golden token. Along the way, he meets Li Yumo, who has a death mark shaped like a lotus flower on her neck. When their two tokens are joined, they break the century-old evil curse hidden in Northern Wei's secret vault.
But just as the curse is lifted, lotus patterns appear once more in the city. The "urban ghost stories" in the steel-and-concrete metropolis turn out to be biological weapons created by combining ancient voodoo with modern biotechnology. Misunderstandings with State Security and the double vortex of the Kingdom organization once again sweep the two into the unknown. After Qian Shan struggles and pays a heavy price, he finally uncovers the enormous conspiracy. But before one crisis has passed, another arises. Before he can even catch his breath, news of his master's whereabouts arrives from Miaojiang. Qian Shan gathers his things once more and sets out on a journey to the southwest to find his master.
In Miaojiang, he meets the gu master Dao Cheng'an and encounters the secrets of Drinking Horse Gorge in the southwest. Together, they face new challenges. The gu master dies in the process, but they ultimately rescue the old man, Qian Shan's master, from peril. After being rescued, his master reveals an "absurd tale of immortality." The gu master has left behind a few scattered relics, which point the trail of this so-called "immortality" toward the snowy reaches of the Tianshan Mountains.
In the remote lands of Tianshan, various clues at the Queen Mother's Jade Pool lead the mystery toward the so-called immortality legends of the "Three Immortal Mountains." What is called immortality brings back, from the brink of oblivion, a broken crystal containing the mysteries of life and consciousness.
The journey home is also the beginning. With an object capable of overturning the world in his hands, Qian Shan knows the "Kingdom" is still lying low, not destroyed. Should he protect the secret, or change the world? No one can foresee the cost. This is the ultimate adventure through mysteries of curses, technology, and the supernatural.
