I Got the Unexpected Role in a Voice Chat Room

Lin Yu, ID: Dm. Zhu, is a newly promoted streamer at Yunxiang Studio, part of the Lingyue Base. A chance live-stream connection introduces him to Li Weiyi, ID: F. Bu'er, a top streamer at Huaxiangrong Studio, also part of the Lingyue Base. While their talent-show battle and PK are still going on, the viewers have already started shipping them en masse. Before Lin Yu has even ended his stream, fan-made edits of their couple-like connection are everywhere. The next moment, his showrunner sends him a “chance encounter script.”

Lin Yu: “You mean from now on, I’m your little fanboy? Bro, what am I supposed to be now? How could I possibly follow a script with you?”

Li Weiyi: “The fans like it, the show’s getting a good response, and it’s all positive. Remember to connect with me tomorrow.”

Lin Yu: “But bro, I’m a terrible actor. If you don’t mind, find someone else to do the script with you. I’m afraid I’ll hold you back, bro qwq.”

Li Weiyi: “Remember to connect with me tomorrow.”

Connect, connect… Is this F. Bu'er some kind of bot? Lin Yu grumbles to himself, but really can’t refuse, so he stays up all night studying the “chance encounter script” he was sent. The next day, once they connect, Lin Yu is just about to follow the script and ask Li Weiyi what songs he usually likes listening to, or what songs he’d like to hear Lin Yu learn, when Li Weiyi completely ignores the script. The answer is supposed to be “Always Online,” but instead he says “The Only One”… From then on, the plot laid out in the “chance encounter script” takes off like a runaway horse.

Aren’t we supposed to be following a script? Why isn’t this going the way it said it would?!
