Chen Yu: Male, around 35. A professor in the archaeology department of a top university, with extensive fieldwork experience. Calm and rational, with a meticulous mind and a touch of scholarly reserve, he is also strong-willed. An accident, possibly connected to Yuxu, left him with a slight functional impairment in his right hand, making him rely more on his intellect and team. He pursues historical truth almost obsessively.
Su Chan: Female, around 28. A genius in ancient script and semiotics, and Chen Yu’s prized student and assistant. Gentle on the outside but strong inside, she has keen powers of observation and an exceptional memory. Curious about the unknown, she nevertheless reacts with intense fear when confronted by supernatural phenomena. She is the team’s codebreaker.
Batur: Male, around 45. A veteran guide and wilderness survival expert, and a former soldier. He knows the treacherous terrain of the northwest, southwest, plateaus, and beyond. He is forthright and rugged, fiercely loyal, and exceptionally capable in a fight. The team’s combat specialist and protector, he holds a simple reverence for nature and is relatively open to mysterious phenomena.
The mysterious organization “Eye of Guixu”: Its members’ identities are unknown. They seem to have an older understanding of Yuxu and the divine tree. Their actions are secretive and their aims are a mystery. They may be guardians, or they may be even more dangerous seekers. Their very existence is a major mystery.
