No one could say where the disaster came from, but the scientists’ instincts told them it was coming.

To simulate a possible apocalyptic crisis and explore how humanity might survive in extreme conditions, they launched the “Wasteland 2077” virtual model project.

In that fictional doomsday world, they created Chen Er, an ordinary scavenger with no connections and no special advantages. He was simply dropped into the most chaotic, dirtiest, most hopeless corner of the simulation: the unreconstructed zone.

They wanted to know what someone like Chen Er would become in a world without order: a beast, or the creator of a new order?

To survive, Chen Er searched for clean water and food that hadn’t completely spoiled, and rummaged through the ruins of the old world for resources. Relying on his survival instincts and wits, he fought his way into the reconstruction zone, earning status and standing.

Then one day, he discovered that the world he lived in was about to be shut down. The place he called home was nothing but a false world, and he was merely a “test subject” for the “gods.” But he refused to accept this. He would not let his life be predetermined or allow himself to be controlled at someone else’s whim. So he began an uneven struggle against the “gods,” determined to take back his fate!
