“Are you human?”
“…Or a ghoul?”
Eight years after the war, an underground city codenamed “Shenjing” has quietly taken shape beneath the ruins of Tokyo. The remnants of the Black Goat, led by Ken Kaneki, have regrouped deep in the abandoned old district. There is no sunlight, no order, only convictions that have yet to crumble.
Cangye Kazami, formerly CCG experiment subject E-17, was classified as an unstable “kagune-human hybrid” before escaping during transport. Carrying an identity that has long been tampered with, a bloodline he cannot make sense of, and the last remnants of a will with nowhere to turn, he plunges into Shenjing.
There, he meets Ken Kaneki, the “One-Eyed King” who once straddled the worlds of humans and ghouls.
He also encounters the phantom of Rize, the whispers of kagune, and the long-hidden truth buried deep within Shenjing.
As the Black Goat begins to splinter from within and the CCG reorganizes into a new government agency, the Kagune Control Bureau, the last boundary between Shenjing and the surface of Tokyo gradually fades.
Shattered faith, displaced bloodlines, remnants of humanity.
In a world with no way back, Kazami must choose:
Is he human?
A ghoul?
Or something else, a new form of life between destruction and salvation?
“We are neither gods nor monsters.”
“We’re just people who haven’t gone mad yet.”
