In the near future, humans will realize the sharing and expansion of consciousness through "mind link" technology, giving rise to the profession of "consciousness designers", who are responsible for building and maintaining virtual experience spaces, repairing damaged memories, and even customizing dreams. The protagonist, Ling Shuo, is a top but maverick consciousness designer in the industry, famous for his precise "memory surgery" and insight into the deep structure of consciousness. However, a mysterious consciousness virus called the "Code Ghost" quietly appears, which can infect and tamper with individual memories, and even trigger a chain of cognitive disasters in the link network. While Ling Shuo was investigating a seemingly ordinary case of memory disorder, he accidentally discovered that there was a huge conspiracy hidden behind the "code ghost" that could subvert the boundaries of human cognition.
