A string of murders, carried out with bizarre methods and a strong sense of ritual, leaves the police at a loss. Lin Wan, a criminal psychology expert, is invited to assist with the investigation, but details of the case reveal a shadow she knows all too well: the “accident” that took everything from her ten years ago, code-named the “Light-Eater Case.”
Secret markings, tampered case files, resistance from all sides... Lin Wan is certain this is no coincidence. Then there is Shen Yu, a mysterious man who appears out of nowhere. Cold and aloof, he nevertheless pays her far too much attention. Is he an ally, or a guide leading her into the abyss?
Caught between danger and suspicion, the two are forced to draw closer. When the killer’s testimony tears open the lies surrounding the old case, and the threats turn directly toward Lin Wan’s life, Shen Yu’s identity becomes ever more mysterious. The photograph in his study should have been burned in the fire ten years ago; and the killer’s dying whisper is about to reveal a dark name bound to Shen Yu by blood...
The old case has yet to cool, and a new feud is already ablaze.
She pursues the truth, while he is a puzzle in his own right.
